Ministers will correspond directly with the Member.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The British Government remains fully committed to action to alleviate the Rohingya crisis and regularly engages with the Government of Bangladesh, which is generously hosting close to 1 million refugees. On 20 August, I wrote to Bangladeshi State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam to underline the UK's support and to welcome the Government of Bangladesh's continued commitment that any returns must be safe, voluntary, dignified and in accordance with international humanitarian principles. The British High Commission in Dhaka is also engaging regularly on this issue with the Government of Bangladesh. </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The UK recognises the economic burden faced by Bangladesh and will remain a leading donor. We have committed £129 million to the crisis so far and will announce further funding shortly. The UK also remains committed to supporting a political solution that enables safe, voluntary and dignified returns to Myanmar. We are deeply concerned by Iran's steps to reduce compliance with the JCPoA, including its recent announcement on suspending limits on nuclear research and development, and urge Iran to uphold the agreement in full. The British High Commission recently met the Vice Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities in July to discuss minority rights.</p><p><del class="ministerial">We also support local NGOs to deliver projects to promote minority rights. In 2015, we funded a project that trained 500 tribal men and women on women’s rights and access to justice. During 2016-2018, we provided legal training for 2,000 Dalit women to combat violence against them, and helped create a network of Dalit Women Human Rights Defenders in four states. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/04/2019 answer text <p><del class="ministerial">I</del> <ins class="ministerial">Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon </ins>spoke to the Secretary General of the Commonwealth about the situation in Brunei on 4 April. The Secretary General is in contact with the Government of Brunei and is working through Commonwealth channels.</p><p>​The UK encourages all Commonwealth partners to protect and promote the values in the Commonwealth Charter, including its opposition to all forms of discrimination. We have made clear that nobody should face persecution or discrimination because of who they are or whom they love.</p><p>Brunei is one of several Commonwealth countries that imposes corporal and capital punishments. It has now introduced new potential penalties under the Sharia Penal Code.</p><p>We have raised our concerns with the Government of Brunei.
