answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2018 answer text <p>The UK is deeply concerned by reports of alleged breaches by regional powers of the arms embargo imposed on South Sudan by the EU in 2011. We welcome the report by Conflict Armament Research as an important insight into the movement of arms that have such a devastating effect in perpetuating the suffering of the South Sudanese people. question text	To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon on 26 November (HL11345), whether they will now answer the question asked, namely what assessment they have made of the finding of the report of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Unearthing Atrocities: Mass Graves in territory formerly controlled by ISIL, published on 6 November, that from the beginning of 2014 until the end of 2017 ISIS committed atrocities resulting in approximately 30,000 civilian deaths and 55,150 injured persons.

However, we believe that the task of locating mass graves and holding perpetrators to account is not an issue for Iraq alone but one of global concern, which is why the UK led on UNSCR 2379 to establish a team (UNITAD) to collect evidence of Daesh crimes in order to hold members of Daesh to account for their actions. We are working closely with the team. However, it is clear that the scale of Daesh’s crimes against innocent civilians is horrific and marks an appalling period in Iraq’s history.</p><p>We are pressing the Government of Iraq to work closely with the UN’s Investigative Team for the Accountability of Daesh, as well as non-governmental organisations and other bodies working on this issue. The issue of mass graves in previously Daesh held territory was also discussed in my recent meeting with Karim Khan QC who is the Special Advisor to UNITAD. The Minister for Asia and the Pacific, Mark Field, made representations to the Burmese Ambassador on 11 July regarding the Burmese military's conduct in Kachin and Shan. The UK co-sponsored the UN Human Rights Council Resolution passed on 27 September which called for the immediate cessation of fighting and hostilities, of targeting civilians and of all violations and abuses of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, and of the harassment, intimidation, arrest, detention and prosecution of human rights defenders and activists in northern Burma, in particular in Kachin and Shan States. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/12/2018 answer text <p>Saudi Arabia remains a Foreign and Commonwealth Office human rights priority country, particularly because of the use of the death penalty, women's rights and restrictions on freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion and belief. We raise our concerns with the Saudi Arabian authorities using a range of ministerial and diplomatic channels of communication, including our Ambassador, the Embassy team and the European Union in Riyadh. A major component of Saudi Arabia’s V2030 is educational reform. As the Saudi Minister of Education recently commented this will take a number of years. In March we signed an MOU that will enable a partnership in developing educational curricula. Our Ambassador to Burma met the Burmese Attorney-General on 9 August and made clear that freedom of the media was a vital safeguard in a democracy.
