answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/07/2015 answer text <p>We acknowledge that need for appropriate regulation of NGOs in Pakistan, but we remain concerned at recent attempts to close Save the Children’s Islamabad office and have raised the issue at the highest levels on a number of occasions. On 12 June, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond), raised our concerns with his counterpart in Pakistan. I raised the issue with the Pakistan High Commissioner on 11 June. The UK will continue to work actively both bilaterally and multilaterally to ensure that States protect the right of all individuals to practise their religion or belief free from persecution or discrimination. The Government led efforts to rescue stranded Yazidis on Mount Sinjar after their persecution by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.</p><p>The UK is also active in the United Nations, European Union and other relevant international organisations in calling on States to promote and protect the right to freedom of religion or belief and ensure the free and equal participation of all in society. Friend the Member for Mid Norfolk (Mr Freeman), raised the matter with Caren Marks, State Secretary in the Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth. They agreed that such a meeting was needed. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/02/2015 answer text <p>We are aware of reports of a small number of British citizens fighting against ISIL in Syria and Iraq, but are not able to estimate accurately the total number. The UK advises against all travel to Syria and against travel to much of Iraq. Anyone who does travel to these areas, for whatever reason, is putting themselves in considerable danger. The Syrian National Coalition, which we recognise as the sole legitimate representatives of the Syrian people, have made clear that they do not want foreign fighters to come to their country. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/01/2015 answer text <p>Five British nationals have reported their involvement in incidents caused by Boko Haram. However, we believe that more than 4,000 people were killed last year by Boko Haram, primarily in north-east Nigeria, but also in terrorist attacks throughout the country. The United Nations estimates that more than 1.5 million people have been displaced by Boko Haram’s terrorist activities.</p><p>As reflected in Travel Advice, terrorist groups in Nigeria, including Boko Haram, continue to pose a significant threat to British nationals and British interests in parts of the country. We believe that the terrorist group Ansaru are responsible for the murder of at least nine foreign hostages, including two British nationals in separate incidents in Nigeria in 2012 and in 2013.
