As I made clear in my earlier response in October last year, the previous Foreign Secretary issued a statement expressing concern about the approval of 31 construction permits in Hebron for the first time in 15 years. The Government’s position on settlements is clear. We fully support the next steps in this process set out by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in his briefing to the UN Security Council on 8 November and endorsed at the Palermo conference on 12-13 November.
