Whilst the UK welcomes the UN Secretary General's initial response, we urge the UN to increase its efforts to tackle sexual harassment and will look for the earliest opportunity to discuss this with them. The Foreign and Development Secretaries raised the issue of sexual harassment with the UN Secretary-General last December and the Minister for the Commonwealth and the UN discussed the issue with the Under Secretary-General Head of the UN Task Force on Sexual Harassment in October. Senior officials have also been in regular contact with senior United Nations representatives to push for action to tackle these issues.
more like this

answer text
On 15 January, the International Criminal Court (ICC) Trial Chamber, by majority acquitted Laurent Gbagbo and Charles Blé Goudé of all charges. These judgments have been reached following an independent and impartial judicial process. Our thoughts are with the victims of violence in Cote d'Ivoire and their families. The UK government firmly believes that those who have perpetrated war crimes and crimes against humanity should be held fully accountable. The ICC can play an important role in ending impunity for the most serious international crimes. It has our full support in pursuing the mandate it was given under ICC Statute.
more like this

We pursue this policy through a range of fora, including the Security Council, but note that any action by the Security Council requires the agreement of its permanent members. We do not have an estimate of countries that have failed to comply with the ICC in the case of Omar al-Bashir.
more like this

answer text
The treatment of all British-Iranians detained in Iran, including Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe is a priority for the Government. We urgently raise these cases with the Iranian Government at every opportunity. On 14 January, the Foreign Secretary summoned the Iranian Ambassdor to the UK. The Foreign Secretary called for Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe to be immediately given the healthcare she requires and for her and other British-Iranian dual nationals to be released. The Iranian authorities have since confirmed that access to external medical treatment will be permitted. We will continue to raise Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe's case, as well as our other consular cases, with the Iranian Government at every opportunity, including requesting consular access, and will continue to take action in line with what we believe will produce the best outcomes in their cases. We are only able to provide consular support to British nationals, including dual nationals, and to otherwise un-represented EU and Commonwealth nationals. Mrs Mohammadi as she holds Iranian nationality only, is not eligible for consular assistance.

answer text
Over recent years, we have noted a shrinking of public space in Tanzania through increased restrictions on the activities of civil society organisations, political parties and the media. Respect for human rights and the rule of law have been repeatedly undermined. We have made our concerns about this known to the Government of Tanzania at both Ministerial and official level. The UK is fully committed to the promotion of media freedom and the protection of journalists. The Foreign Secretary announced on 31 October 2018 the launch of an international campaign on media freedom and that the UK will host an International Conference aimed at promoting the value and benefits of a free media and to mobilise an international consensus on the protection of journalists as the guardians of our freedoms.
more like this
