answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/12/2018 answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary last discussed the Belt and Road initiative with his Chinese counterparts on 30 July 2018, when he visited Beijing for the annual UK-China Strategic Dialogue with State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. I discussed the initiative with my counterpart Vice Minister Guo in Beijing on 22 July. Both sides confirmed the view expressed during the Prime Minister’s visit to China in January, that the UK and China are well placed to cooperate on the Belt and Road initiative. The Foreign Secretary and I both stressed the importance of the initiative developing in line with international standards, and highlighted the UK’s unique expertise in this area. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2018 answer text <p>We have serious concerns about the human rights situation in Xinjiang and the Chinese Government’s deepening crackdown; including credible reports of re-education camps and widespread surveillance and restrictions targeted at ethnic minorities.</p><p>During China’s Universal Periodic Review at the UN Human Rights Council on 6 November, the UK made a statement which described our concern about the treatment of ethnic minorities in China, including Uyghurs. We issued a specific recommendation, calling on China to implement the recommendations by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Xinjiang, and to allow the UN to monitor the implementation. We also raised our concerns about Xinjiang in our Item 4 statement at the September UN Human Rights Council, and we supported the statement of 26 October by the European External Action Service highlighting concerns about Xinjiang.</p><p>I raised our concerns about Xinjiang with Vice Minister Guo Yezhou during my visit to China on 22 July 2018. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/12/2018 answer text <p>​We are aware of conflicting reports of the circumstances surrounding Father Ondari's tragic death, including reports he was killed in a cross-fire between government forces and separatist fighters, as well as allegations that he was killed by Cameroonian security forces . The Cameroonian government have denied responsibility and have launched an investigation. It is vital that a swift and credible investigation establishes the facts. I made a statement following the elections in Cameroon, calling for all parties to engage in a peaceful and structured process leading to constitutional reforms, as previously set out by the President, and to bring an end to the violence. Father Ondari's tragic death reinforces the urgent and imperative need to tackle the underlying issues in the Anglophone regions. The UK believes that the East African Community (EAC) inter-Burundian dialogue led by the region is key to ensuring open and inclusive elections in 2020 and to putting an end to the ongoing political and human rights situation.</p><p>We continue to encourage EAC member states to engage in this dialogue and to work with the Government of Burundi to resolve the political situation. The UK Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region recently met with the EAC counterparts facilitating the dialogue to discuss next steps. We regularly press both parties to resume direct negotiations towards a two-state solution. I discussed the issue of the Middle East Peace Process with the Israeli Ambassador to the UK on 11 October and the Palestinian Foreign Minister on 24 November. We continue to believe the best way to achieve this is through substantive peace talks between the parties leading to a two-state solution based on well-known parameters.
