<p>The political situation in Sudan is currently dominated by protests that commenced
on 19 December, initially driven by concerns over the economic situation. The UK has
registered deep concern at the limitations on the Sudanese people's right to freedom
of expression and at the violence used by the Government of Sudan in response to peaceful
protests. We continue to urge the Government of Sudan to undertake much needed economic
and political reforms for the benefit of the people of Sudan.</p>
