answer text
We have consistently lobbied the Government of South Sudan, both bilaterally and through the UN Security Council, to cooperate fully with the planning for the Regional Protection Force (RPF) due to be deployed to Juba to support the operations of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), most recently when our Ambassador met President Kiir in Juba on 13 October. We are exploring, with our partners on the Security Council, additional measures that might be taken to ensure that UNMISS is able properly to fulfil its mandate and the RPF is able to deploy.
more like this

answer text
The UK supported a resolution reached at the Human Rights Council in September which commits to increase the number of international human rights experts in the Yemen Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) operation, making clear the independent mandate for OHCHR to conduct their own investigations. The resolution also maintains the technical cooperation programme for OHCHR to strengthen the National Commission in Yemen, which we believe will make a difference on the ground. We look forward to reports from the OHCHR next year.

The Government want to see Saudi Arabia investigate allegations of breaches of international humanitarian law (IHL) which are attributed to them; and for their investigations to be thorough and conclusive. Saudi Arabia has publicly stated that it is investigating reports of alleged violations of IHL, and that any lessons learned will be acted upon.
more like this

Since the 1 July 2016 attack on the Holey Bakery Café in Dhaka, targeting foreign nationals, the Government has continued to raise its concerns over security directly with the Bangladeshi government. I did so with Prime Minister Hasina's Defence and Security Advisor, Major General (rt) Tarique Ahmed Siddique on 8 September. This issue was also raised by the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, my Hon. Friend the Member for Reading West (Mr Sharma) when he met with the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, on 23 September.

We will continue to engage with regional partners and the wider international community to support efforts to address terrorism, extremism, and to promote human rights in Bangladesh.
more like this

answer text The human rights situation in Crimea has deteriorated significantly since the Russia's illegal annexation. We are deeply concerned about the treatment of Crimean Tatars who face regular harassment including arrests, detentions, disappearances, threats to seize property, and restrictions on their rights of worship, assembly and expression, including a ban on the Mejlis council. We are aware of reports that 18 Crimean Tatars are currently held in Russian-run prisons and several more are under arrest for opposing the illegal annexation of Crimea. International human rights organisations such as the UN and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe are barred from entering Crimea. We continue to call on Russia to allow them immediate and unfettered access. more like this
