answer text
We have not made any assessment of these issues. We understand the British Council, an executive non-departmental public body that is independent from the British Government, was not a sponsor of the conference and its support was to enable UK-based academics to attend the conference and share their experience of the Northern Irish Peace Process and its impact. The British Government’s position on boycotts is clear. While we do not hesitate to express disagreement with Israel whenever we feel it necessary, we are firmly opposed to boycotts. We believe that imposing sanctions on Israel or supporting anti-Israeli boycotts would not support our efforts to progress the peace process and achieve a negotiated solution.
more like this

answer text
The UK proscribes the military wing of Hamas and maintains a no contact policy with Hamas in its entirety and condemns its acts contrary to human rights. The UK’s position on Hamas is clear: Hamas must renounce violence, recognise Israel and accept previously signed agreements. Hamas faces a fundamental decision about whether it is prepared to join efforts for peace, or whether it will continue to use terror and anti-Semitic incitement, with all the terrible consequences for the people of Gaza and Israel. The UK is supportive of the Palestinian Authority fully resuming government functions in Gaza, helping to improve the economic and humanitarian situation and ease the suffering of ordinary Gazans.
more like this

answer text
The UK plays a leading role in continuing EU sanctions against Russia to effect a change in its Ukraine policy and end its illegal annexation of Crimea. Sanctions have demonstrated a clear united Western position and will remain in place until Russia fully meets its commitments under the Minsk Agreements. Beyond the Kremlin’s bravado, sanctions are biting in Russia. Of Russia’s 3.7 percent overall Gross Domestic Product decline in 2015, Citibank assess sanctions caused nearly 0.4 percent. Financial sanctions are particularly effective, making it expensive and hard for Russia to secure western finance.
more like this
