UK Trade &amp; Investment (UKTI) has lead UK responsibility for the provision of support and assistance to new and existing exporters of goods and services both at home and overseas. The Welsh Government is responsible for devising and implementing additional programmes to meet the particular needs of companies in Wales.</p><p> </p><p>UKTI works closely with the Welsh Government's trade and Investment team who deliver services on the ground in Wales. Companies in Wales therefore have access to the support provided both by Welsh Government and UKTI.</p><p> </p><p>UKTI uses its Performance and Impact Monitoring Surveys (PIMS) to measure the performance and impact of its support across the UK. The PIMS evidence is periodically complemented by independent impact evaluations. As such, this is not an area where the Government can intervene.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>However, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and private providers of ‘halls of residence’ type accommodation are required to belong to one of two Codes of Practice. These are the Student Accommodation Code <a href="http://www.thesac.org.uk/" target="_blank">http://www.thesac.org.uk/</a></p><p> </p><p>and the Accreditation Network UK <a href="http://www.anuk.org.uk/aboutus/aboutus.asp" target="_blank">http://www.anuk.org.uk/aboutus/aboutus.asp</a>.</p><p> </p><p>These Codes of Practice protect students’ rights to safe, good quality accommodation, wherever they are studying. They outline what students can expect from their accommodation as well as their responsibilities as tenants.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Some other private providers offer student accommodation, off campus, on the basis of an Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST). For students in these properties, rents would be set by the landlord at the market rent achievable for that type of accommodation. Under Section 22 of the Housing Act 1988, if an AST tenant considers the rent to be excessive, he or she could apply to the first tier tribunal for a determination of the rent. Given these protections, Government has no plans to act in this area.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In addition, since 2012, the Key Information Set includes information on the average cost of accommodation for each HEI. Support under DSAs will continue to be available if the need for a higher specification or higher cost computer is by virtue of the student's disability, rather than how the course is being delivered by the Higher Education Institution (HEI). They have clear duties to ensure that disabled students do not face discrimination whilst applying to, and studying in higher education. question text	To ask Her Majesty's Government what is their assessment of the contribution made by Polish immigrants to the United Kingdom economy and society since 2010.

There is no data available on the exact contribution of Polish immigrants to UK GDP since 2010 - it is extremely complex to isolate the contribution of just one group of people to GDP, given the wide variety of economic activity that they will be involved in.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>However, many economists believe that Polish migrants have had a positive impact on the UK economy since 2004 as they tend to be of working age when they arrive and contribute more to the economy through taxes and consumption than they take out via public services.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>By broad industry definitions, Polish nationals work across all industries but are most often found in Manufacturing and Distribution, Hotels and Restaurants. By standard occupation definitions, Polish nationals are found in all occupational areas but are most often in skilled trades, process, plant and machine operative occupations and elementary occupations.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that the primary driver for determining an individual's fiscal contribution is whether they are in employment. We set out government priorities for adult skills provision annually in the Skills Funding Statement<sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup>, with the Department for Education setting out its priorities in a letter to the Sector<sup><sup>[2]</sup></sup>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As independent autonomous organisations it is for college governing bodies to ensure value for money by designing an appropriate local offer that employers and learners value and are prepared to invest in.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In the last Spending Review, the Government looked to protect overall levels of adult Further education (FE) funding. The funding for adult Teaching and Learning in 2014-15 is broadly the same as 2012-13. Over this parliament the Government has undertaken a radical reform programme enabling FE colleges to use their freedoms and flexibilities to provide the high quality skills their learners, local economy and businesses need. We therefore welcome any measures introduced by Ofsted to improve the quality of inspections by arranging the involvement of employers.
