answer text <p>189 kilogrammes of drugs were recovered in prisons in England and Wales in 2017 and 50 kilogrammes of drugs were recovered between January and March this year. Data for the months since March 2018 will be available on GOV.UK in July 2019, as part of the Annual HMPPS Digest. The volume of drugs recovered reflects not only the number of attempts to convey illicit substances into our prisons but also our success in finding and recovering these drugs.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Based on matched MOJ-DWP data on the proportion of working age adult offenders released from prison in 2011/12, 17% were in employment 12 months after release from custody.</p><p>More recent data from 2014/15 indicates that at a national level, 26.5% of prisoners were entering employment upon release, but this data was self-reported and we don’t have a split in this rate for length of sentence served.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>There were more than 350,000 incidences of release on temporary licence (ROTL) in 2017, over 99% of which were completed without a failure on any kind.</p><p> </p><p>Out of these there were 11 recorded failures by individuals on release from prison on temporary licence as a result of alleged offending in 2017. The latest data available shows that there were 4 recorded failures for this reason up to 30 June 2018.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) allocates food budgets to prisons on the basis of £2.02 per prisoner per day, which covers the daily prisoner food and beverage requirements.</p><p> </p><p>With increased responsibilities to Governors since April 2017, and devolved budgets to prisons, what is actually spent on food per prisoner per day and the breakdown per meals is ultimately a decision for each Governor and their catering team.</p><p> </p><p>The food budget for prisoners within privately managed prisons is agreed in the contract between the provider and the Ministry of Justice, the details of which are commercially sensitive.
