This includes making sure all veterans have equity of opportunity and access to valuable, sustainable careers after they leave military service.</p><p>Veterans’ employment in the UK is at an all-time high, at 89% within six months of leaving service for those who engage with the available support. answer text <p>The Cabinet Office plans to issue high-level guidance to central government, specifically covering the central government estate and published for an internal-to-government audience, in the coming months. Further guidance, for the wider public sector, may follow.</p><p>The Office of Government Property has published the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/net-zero-estate-playbook" target="_blank">Net Zero Estate Playbook</a> on gov.uk, providing guidance to support government property organisations to decarbonise their estates. This includes recommendations of how to reduce operational energy use, such as through improving renewable energy generation where appropriate through multiple channels, including solar technology.</p><p>Government is committed to driving forward the renewable energy agenda, both on its own estate and beyond, and the UK has halved its emissions ahead of every other major economy.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government Property Agency (GPA) is responsible for the procurement of food and drink for canteens and restaurants in a number of government buildings across Britain, including Cabinet Office buildings.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Contractually, all suppliers appointed by GPA are required to comply with the Government Buying Standards, owned by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The relevant part of the standards is local and environmentally sustainable sourcing.</p><p> </p><p>Wherever possible, contracting authorities and/or tier 1 suppliers should aim for at least 50% of food spending to be on locally produced food or food certified to higher environmental production standards. Progress towards this target must be reported annually.</p><p> </p><p>This contractual provision will be monitored as part of the governance and report requirements of GPA's new contracts.</p><p> </p> more like this
