On 31 March 2020 the Department for International Trade had a headcount of 2,300 permanent civil servants, excluding Agencies. The Department for International Trade was created in July 2016 following the United Kingdom's vote to leave the European Union. The earliest published headcount was 920 permanent civil servants in December 2016.
