answer text
The Conflict, Stability and Security (CSSF) Fund programme in Egypt promotes the participation of women and girls, quality and accessible education for all, inclusive governance, and support to refugees. It does not provide funding to the Egyptian security services. The CSSF Portfolio Board regularly reviews risk across all countries in which we have a programme. Human rights issues are considered as part of this and in this context, the Board discussed the situation in several countries, including Egypt, at the last board meeting in October. Overseas Security and Justice Assessments (OSJAs) are not published.

Egypt is a human rights priority country for the UK. Our strong bilateral relationship allows us to raise human rights issues frankly with the Egyptian government, both in private and public. The Prime Minister met with Egyptian President Sisi on 7 November to register his concern for Mr. Adb El-Fattah's welfare and expectation the case will be resolved quickly. The UK also issued a statement at the UN Human Rights Council in September calling on Egypt to ensure independent civil society, human rights defenders and media are able to operate freely.

answer text
The Iranian regime's violent repression of the Iranian people, including in Sanandaj and the Kurdistan Province, is a stark reminder of the deplorable status of human rights in Iran. The Foreign Secretary summoned Iran's most senior diplomat in the UK on 3 October, we then reiterated with him on 26 October, our absolute condemnation of Iran's nationwide crackdown on peaceful protestors. The UK raises human rights at all appropriate opportunities, in London and via His Majesty's Ambassador in Tehran. The UK maintains close to 300 sanctions designations against Iran, in relation to nuclear proliferation, terrorism and including 87 human rights designations. We work with international partners to hold Iran to account, through the UN Human Rights Council, Security Council, G7 and the UN General Assembly Third Committee.
more like this

The British Ambassador to Eritrea has regularly raised human rights issues, and the impact of its involvement in the war in northern Ethiopia on civilians, with the Eritrean Government. The indiscriminate targeting of civilian areas, no matter the weapon used, is against international law, and is unacceptable We have made numerous public statements urging all parties to the conflict to prioritise the protection of civilians.
