answer text <p>Our published impact assessments for the Australia and New Zealand free trade agreements (FTAs) set out the potential long-run impacts of these FTAs on UK GDP, sectors, and employment. They also make an assessment of the potential implications for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).</p><p> </p><p>These assessments show the proportion of UK SMEs that are present in sectors most likely to be affected by the FTAs. Estimating the impacts of UK FTAs on gross value added (GVA), tariffs and employment specifically for SMEs is not possible using the currently available trade data and modelling methodology.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will facilitate the recognition of professional qualifications in professional services, such as legal services, including through supporting regulators’ work towards mutual recognition arrangements.</p><p>Specifically in relation to legal services, the FTA sets up a legal services regulatory dialogue. The dialogue establishes structured engagement between the UK and Australian legal professions with the aim of addressing remaining barriers to practising law locally in each market such as those relating to requalification.</p><p>It is our intention to ratify the FTA at the earliest opportunity so that businesses can reap the benefits.</p> more like this

The Government recognises the importance of free trade agreements (FTAs) receiving thorough scrutiny and the CRaG process provides Parliament with this opportunity.</p><p> </p><p>The Government commitment to holding debates on FTAs during the CRaG process is subject to the request being made in a timely manner and parliamentary time being available. answer text <p>The Government will not be ratifying the UK-Australia free trade agreement before 21 July 2022. The agreement is scheduled to complete its formal pre-ratification scrutiny period under the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 on 20<sup>th</sup> July 2022.</p><p> </p><p>The agreement cannot be ratified until the necessary domestic legislation is in place. The agreement therefore will not be ratified until the Trade (Australia and New Zealand) Bill has received Royal Assent and all secondary legislation is in place.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government has been clear that the UK-Australia Free Trade Agreement will be ratified once it has completed formal scrutiny under the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 and all necessarily domestic legislative changes have been made.</p><p> </p><p>The Trade (Australia and New Zealand) Bill will allow for changes to domestic primary legislation to implement the Procurement chapters of the Australia and New Zealand agreements. The Bill was introduced in May and is awaiting a date for Second Reading. The agreement cannot be ratified until the Bill has received Royal Assent and all required secondary legislation has been passed.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) does not create any new permissions for imports from Australia. All products imported into the UK will, as they do now, have to comply with our high import requirements and standards.</p><p>The government has a comprehensive programme for monitoring pesticides residues in food to determine whether food available to UK consumers complies with the statutory residue levels and is safe.</p><p>The independent Trade and Agriculture Commission recently concluded that the UK-Australia FTA does not affect the UK’s statutory protections in relation to animal or plant life or health, animal welfare, and the environment.</p> more like this

answer text <p>A summary of responses to our consultations on our Australia and New Zealand trade negotiations can be found on the government’s website.</p><p> </p><p>Transfers of personal data to Australia and New Zealand must continue to satisfy the UK’s high standards of data protection. The deals enshrine a requirement to maintain domestic legislation to protect data. Australia and New Zealand must also publish information on how they protect data, and how UK citizens can enforce their data rights. The UK continues to champion data protection with all Free Trade Agreement partners in line with our published Digital Trade Objectives.</p> more like this
