We deliver this through our strong investment in Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, which will vaccinate an additional 76 million children in 68 of the world’s poorest countries by 2020.</p><p> </p><p>We are deeply concerned that opposition to vaccinations and spread of anti-vaccine misinformation could undermine these hard-fought gains that have helped protect the world’s most vulnerable children from vaccine preventable diseases and outbreaks. Gavi shares this concern and works through civil society groups at local levels to address opposition to vaccines. These groups monitor anti-vaccine sentiment at local levels and help counter vaccine misinformation by providing accurate information of their health benefits. This approach helps provide a deeper understanding of the causes of opposition to vaccinations. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2019 answer text <p>An Ebola outbreak was declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in North Kivu and Ituri provinces, on August 1, 2018. The UK has been a major contributor to the response from the very beginning, providing both financial and technical support to tackle the disease and prevent its spread. Our funding to the WHO, other UN partners and the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) is supporting infection prevention and control, safe and dignified burials, community engagement and accountability, psychosocial support - particularly to survivors, and broader health systems strengthening.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is also the leading donor for regional preparedness to prevent the spread of the disease to neighbouring countries Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan. Sierra Leone is not currently in debt distress, although it is at high risk. Any country wishing to pursue debt relief should do so through the existing multilateral fora.</p><p> </p><p>UK bilateral aid to Sierra Leone includes ongoing support to increase revenue generation and improve public financial management to address their debt position.</p><p> </p><p>In the last 6 months, the UK has supported decisions taken by the IMF and the World Bank to provide additional financial support packages for Sierra Leone. DFID will provide support for the democratic process through our governance and economic reform programme, which has been specifically designed to respond to opportunities as they arise in Sudan. This could take the form of providing support to a range of civilian and civil society organisations to support their participation in the transition process. The UK has adopted a ‘no regrets’ approach to help bring it to an end as quickly as possible, minimising loss of life and impact on communities. We are one of the leading supporters of the response, providing funding and technical expertise to the WHO and others to break the transmission chain (through treatment centres, contact tracing, vaccination, safe and dignified burials, and other such means). Given the significant risk that Ebola may spread into neighbouring countries, we are also the leading donor for regional preparedness.</p><p>With case numbers continuing to increase, it is important to maintain focus on the Strategic Response Plan and working effectively with local communities, particularly in areas of active conflict. We consistently advocated for the inclusion of women (as well as faith groups, refugees, and internally displaced people) in the peace process; and through sustained engagement (including with women’s groups in Juba and across South Sudan), we will continue to do so as implementation of the 12 September agreement proceeds.
