<p>The number of internally displaced people (IDPs) in Burma has increased in the
last three years. The UN reports that there are 106,290 displaced people in Kachin
and northern Shan states and 127,987 internally displaced persons in Rakhine State.
Figures for northern Rakhine are difficult to gather as the Burmese government has
restricted access for the UN and other agencies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The
UK provides humanitarian assistance in all these areas, but this is highly limited
by government restrictions. The UK Government continues to push for access at every
opportunity.</p><p> </p>
