answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/07/2020 answer text <p>During my ‘virtual visit’ to Yemen on 18 June, I met with members of international organisations, including UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande, to discuss the deteriorating COVID-19 situation and impacts of UN funding shortages in Yemen.</p><p>We actively participate in Humanitarian Country Team meetings and interact with senior officials from international organisations working in Yemen every week. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/07/2020 answer text <p>The UK is extremely concerned by the devastating humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the rapid spread of COVID-19.</p><p>As part our new £160 million commitment to Yemen this financial year (2020/21), we are continuing to support UNICEF to provide essential health services, treat malnutrition and provide clean water and sanitation. We also estimate 100,000 coronavirus cases, which are quickly overwhelming Yemen’s depleted healthcare system. The UK recently pledged £160m to support Yemen, bringing our contribution to almost £1bn since 2015. Ultimately, the crisis must be addressed through a political settlement. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/04/2019 answer text <p>The UK is providing a range of support to the 3.3 million people displaced in Yemen since the conflict began in 2015.</p><p> </p><p>Last financial year (2018/19) we provided £11.4 million to the International Organisation for Migration and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which included assistance to Internally Displaced People (IDPs). This comprised: primary healthcare and mental health services, legal assistance, child protection and support to survivors of gender-based violence. Since June 2017, UK aid has helped over 30,000 IDPs receive psychosocial support and provided over 24,000 with life-saving health care.</p><p> </p><p>On 24 February, the Prime Minister announced that the UK would provide an additional £200 million in response to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen for this financial year (2019/20).
