answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/03/2019 answer text <p>Following US cuts in 2018, the international community was able to step up and meet the shortfall to UNRWA’s budget, allowing it to continue to provide essential basic services to Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. However, we recognise that these refugee populations need UNRWA to be on a more secure financial footing. To that end, the UK is working with UNRWA and other donors to help ensure its sustainability. This includes finding further cost savings reforms, diversifying donor income, and encouraging multi-year funding commitments. The UK is a leading donor to UNRWA and we plan to provide up to £80m to UNRWA overall over the next two years. However, a long-term solution requires a just, fair, agreed and realistic settlement for Palestinian refugees. In line with Treasury rules on Managing Public Money, departments through their accounting officers have ultimate and direct responsibility for their share of the aid budget and remain accountable to Parliament and UK taxpayers for how they spend it. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/03/2019 answer text <p>The Secretary of State has not received any direct representations on the selection process for the position of President of the World Bank.</p><p>HM Government has communicated to other Board members its support for an open, merit-based and transparent process for selecting the next President of the World Bank Group (WBG).</p><p>There are no nationality requirements for the role of President and the Secretary of State has not had any discussions with World Bank Group shareholders about choosing the President of the World Bank based on nationality.</p><p>The World Bank Executive Director’s agreed on 9 January an open, merit-based, and transparent process, in which any Board member was free to nominate candidates by 14 March. A single candidate was formally nominated, and the Executive Directors will interview this candidate. However, DFID has taken a number of steps to increase the range of organisations funded and the accessibility of its funds.</p><p> </p><p>DFID’s 2016 Civil Society Partnership Review recommended a shift towards more open, competitive programmes. This opened up opportunities for a wider range of civil society organisations. This was supported by the 2017 Supplier Review, when DFID committed to cutting red tape to boost competition and open up DFID’s market to a wider range of organisations.</p><p> </p><p>All DFID programmes are required to consider how the programme will contribute to reducing gender inequality.
