We support the ongoing peace process, including by providing funding through the Conflict Stability and Security Fund to region led monitoring bodies – the Revitalised Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) and the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM). We also provide support to civil society to help hold the parties accountable to the peace deal, and to the South Sudan Council of Churches for their dialogue and reconciliation work. Through the Responsible, Accountable and Transparent Enterprise Programme (RATE), DFID supports the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and its response to the changing nature of work and the rise of digital platforms. We also support social protection programmes – central to the protection of workers in the gig economy – in 23 countries.</p><p>DFID is working closely with DWP to influence a proposed International Labour Organisation (ILO) Centenary Declaration. The Declaration will set the strategic direction for the ILO in the context of the future of work. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/03/2019 answer text <p>Following US cuts in 2018, the international community was able to step up and meet the shortfall to UNRWA’s budget, allowing it to continue to provide essential basic services to Palestinian refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. However, we recognise that these refugee populations need UNRWA to be on a more secure financial footing. To that end, the UK is working with UNRWA and other donors to help ensure its sustainability. This includes finding further cost savings reforms, diversifying donor income, and encouraging multi-year funding commitments. The UK is a leading donor to UNRWA and we plan to provide up to £80m to UNRWA overall over the next two years. However, a long-term solution requires a just, fair, agreed and realistic settlement for Palestinian refugees. In line with Treasury rules on Managing Public Money, departments through their accounting officers have ultimate and direct responsibility for their share of the aid budget and remain accountable to Parliament and UK taxpayers for how they spend it. Beira – a city of half a million people in central Mozambique has been cut off since the weekend with no water or electricity. Other areas are under water.</p><p> </p><p>The Government of Mozambique’s Disaster Agency is leading the response and we have been coordinating closely with them. They are being supported by UN agencies, international and local NGOs. The Secretary of State approved an allocation of £4 million from the humanitarian reserve. A plane load of shelter materials landed in Maputo today in response to an initial request. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/03/2019 answer text <p>As the Minister responsible for the Middle East, I raised the US withdrawal of funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with the US President’s Middle East Envoy, Jason Greenblatt, on 28 September 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The Secretary of State has not spoken with her counterpart in the US administration about the decision to maintain a withdrawal of funding from UNRWA, but recently discussed this with Nita Lowey, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, on March 7<sup>th</sup> 2019. The Secretary of State raised her concerns about the impact of funding cuts to UNRWA on the delivery of essential services to Palestinian refugees, including to the provision of healthcare and education.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has been clear that we are concerned about the impact of US cuts to UNRWA on regional stability and services to Palestinian refugees. The UK Government has multi-year commitments to support UNRWA’s Regional Syria Emergency Appeal and UNRWA’s core programme budget. We plan to provide £13m to the Regional Syria Emergency Appeal in 2019 and we also intend to provide £33.5m to UNRWA’s core programme budget next financial year.
