answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/03/2018 answer text <p>The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) assesses that the restrictions on access to fishing waters in Gaza is a key factor discouraging investment and perpetuating high levels of unemployment, food insecurity and aid dependency. The fishing industry is important for the social and economic wellbeing of Gaza and we want to see an increase in the fishing zone, in line with the limit of 20 nautical miles stipulated in the Oslo accords. This is being delivered through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support critical water and sanitation needs identified by the appeal. UK funding is helping to provide clean water and rehabilitate sanitation facilities to stop the spread of disease, benefitting up to 1 million Gazans. This is conducted through our Ambassador and officials in Kinshasa as well as visiting Ministers /senior officials from UK government departments. Most recently, the former Minister for Africa, Rory Stewart MP met President Kabila and other senior DRC ministers in November 2017 during his visit. This was preceded by a visit of the UK Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region, Simon Mustard. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/03/2018 answer text <p>The UN is responsible for monitoring global progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in its 2017 SDGs Report noted that “implementation has begun, but … the rate of progress in many areas is far slower than needed to meet the targets by 2030.”</p><p> </p><p>The Department for International Development has put the Goals at the heart of all of its work and is working with a range of organisations and countries to help deliver them at the global, country and sectoral level. For example, DFID is leading the final global push to eradicate polio and help immunise 45 million children against the disease each year until 2020 to help achieve Goal 3 (Healthy Lives).</p><p> </p><p>DFID is also providing a range of support to National Statistics Offices in developing countries to gather, analyse and use data, linked to the SDGs. This week, the government of Ethiopia launched a humanitarian appeal which sets out that 7.9 million people are in need of emergency assistance to meet their basic food needs in 2018. This is on top of the 7.9 million people who are food insecure from year to year and are supported by the government of Ethiopia’s Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP).</p><p>Responding to food insecurity is a top priority for the UK in Ethiopia and our work is making a real difference. DFID is currently assisting 4 million people in Ethiopia to meet their emergency food needs. Through the PSNP, we are also providing food and cash transfers to 840,000 people, building their food security.
