The UK is investing £1.34 million in new research to fight the virus, including the ongoing development of two rapid diagnostic tests for diagnosis of Ebola by the Institut Pasteur and University of Westminster. The UK is also providing support to other research programmes on Ebola diagnostics and treatments, through enabling the use of the UK funded treatment facilities and laboratories.</p><p> </p><p>The Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (DSTL) has been working with BBI Detection to provide Public Health England (PHE) with prototypes of a rapid diagnostic device, named the UK Ebola Lateral Flow Device. Responding to these challenges is a priority for the UK, and the Government is leading a major new drive to develop drugs for the world’s deadliest diseases.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government has a manifesto commitment to lead a major new programme to develop drugs for the world’s deadliest diseases. The UK Government is the second largest Government funder of product development public-private partnerships (PDPs) and in recent years, these PDPs have developed over 10 drugs, two vaccines and six diagnostic tests. Due to the ongoing fighting, humanitarian access has been extremely limited, preventing assessment of the humanitarian impact. While it is too early for assessments for crop production in 2015, widespread disruption to agriculture is predicted to continue across the country and internally displaced people will continue to be reliant on aid, particularly during the dry season.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Under the Humanitarian Response Plan, the United Nations has appealed for USD 1.7 billion for 2015. This includes in our country programmes and humanitarian responses, through DFID-supported social protection programmes such as the Senior Citizen’s Grant in Uganda and by committing to making age-disaggregated data is a requirement for humanitarian financing. DFID also funds a number of civil society organisations who support older people, including a significant partnership with HelpAge International. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/06/2015 answer text <p>The Family Test was announced by the Prime Minister in August 2014 and introduced in October 2014 for domestic policies through the publication of guidance for officials – Family Test Guidance.</p><p> </p><p>The objective of the Test is to introduce a family perspective to the policy-making process, specifically to make the potential impacts on family functioning and relationships explicit.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for International Development (DFID) leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty internationally. In this respect the welfare of the world’s poorest – both individuals and families – are central to DFID’s work.
