answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2014 answer text <p>DFID recognises that displaced children are specifically vulnerable to the consequences of leaving their homes and communities and often their main carers. Working with partner humanitarian agencies DFID looks to ensure that the assistance and protection needs of children, especially the under -fives are addressed with urgency when a crisis occurs. As part of DFID’s regional response to the Syria crisis for example, DFID partners including UNICEF and specialist health NGOs are providing primary health services, including routine immunisation and malnutrition screening for under-5s. DFID is also funding child friendly spaces, which are accessible to accompanied under-5s, and services to unaccompanied and separated children. This helped 400,000 people access safe water and sanitation; supplied 150,000 people with food packages; and supported over 6,000 families to rebuild their livelihoods.</p><p> </p><p><br> Since the beginning of the current military operation an additional one million people have registered as displaced. In response to this the UK has provided a further £4.7 million. This will support some of the most vulnerable people who have been identified by our partners in a joint assessment run by the UN and the Government of Pakistan.
