The TR are primarily focused on countries exporting and/ or infected with wild polio virus. The Government fully supports the WHO statement.

The UK remains deeply committed to the eradication of polio, and is a long-time supporter of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. At the Global Vaccine Summit in Abu Dhabi in 2013 DFID pledged up to £300 million for polio eradication. In 2013 DFID also provided additional support for the outbreaks in the Horn of Africa and Syria.
more like this

Firstly, by providing support for emissions reductions to limit the levels of climate change. This is by far the most effective way of reducing the numbers of people displaced by climate change.

Secondly, providing 50% of ICF funds to help over 20 million of the most climate vulnerable people adapt to the impacts of climate change and avoid being displaced. For example; reducing the impacts of floods and droughts, introducing climate resilient crops, and providing insurance against climate induced crop failures.

more like this

answer text

The UK funds a number of civil society organisations in Uganda, including around 70 through the multi-donor Democratic Governance Facility. DFID has assessed our programme to ensure that UK aid could continue to be spent effectively and with maximum impact, and to ensure it was not being provided to organisations that proactively and publically promoted the Act. Following this, the UK and other donors agreed to indefinitely suspend funding through the Democratic Governance Facility to one organisation. We will continue to monitor this situation. The UK strongly opposes discrimination on any grounds.

more like this

answer text
DFID may give aid indirectly to countries in the Pacific region if multilateral organisations in receipt of DFID core contributions give aid to countries there. It is not possible to directly track this funding to individual countries. To provide an indication of the destination of aid, the overall proportions of aid reported by the relevant multilateral agencies are used to impute a DFID contribution. The DFID imputed multilateral shares for the Pacific region in 2011/12 are set out in the table below.
