answer text
The UK continues to be at the forefront of the humanitarian response in Yemen, helping secure vital access for food, fuel and medicine to enter the country and consistently being one of the largest donors to the crisis. On 3 April 2018, the UK announced an additional £170 million in response to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen for this financial year (2018/2019). This funding will meet immediate food needs for 2.5 million Yemenis and will bring the total UK bilateral support to Yemen to over £570 million since 2015.

Most recently, on World Food Day (16 October), the UK announced a package of £96.5 million which will help UNICEF tackle malnutrition in Yemen over the coming three years. This package will screen 2.2 million children under the age of five for malnutrition and provide urgent treatment for 70,000 of the most vulnerable children.
more like this

DFID channels funds through UN agencies and NGOs who have been on the ground for many years in Yemen, have good access and a strong track record of delivering and monitoring assistance in difficult environments. Officials regularly monitor and review programmes to ensure they are delivering results and that no aid is diverted or misused.

DFID applies a rigorous process of due diligence, under which partners must demonstrate accountable, transparent governance structures and sound financial procedures before funding is provided. DFID contracts independent monitoring experts to verify delivery at project sites including through photographs and interviews with direct beneficiaries.
more like this

answer text
Our humanitarian aid is provided on the basis of humanitarian need. The funding commitments listed in the Answer of 15 June 2016 to Question 39874 support men, women and children affected by the conflict; it is not possible to say exactly how much has been used specifically to support children. Since the UN reports that the conflict in Yemen has spread to 20 out of 22 governorates, it is likely that most children in Yemen have been directly or indirectly affected by the conflict.
more like this

answer text
The UK more than doubled its humanitarian commitment to Yemen in 2015-16 to £85 million, making us the fourth largest donor last year. We have so far helped more than 1.3 million Yemenis who have been affected by the conflict. Over the next twelve months, we will continue to work with a range of partners to address the widespread humanitarian needs across Yemen, as well as helping to de-escalate the conflict, improve commercial and humanitarian access, lay the groundwork for recovery and push for a sustainable political solution. Budgets for 2016/17 will be announced in due course.
more like this
