UK officials have been in contact with Save the Children, who fund the hospital, about this alleged incident and have raised this matter with the Saudi-led Coalition, who have announced an investigation into this alleged incident.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is clear that there can be no military solution to this conflict. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/11/2018 answer text <p>The UK continues to raise concerns with the Saudi led-Coalition about the potential impact of any assault on the port and city of Hodeidah and is monitoring the resumption of hostilities in and around Hodeidah closely.</p><p> </p><p>We have consistently made clear, the Coalition must ensure that any further military operations in and around Hodeidah are conducted in accordance with international humanitarian law, including on the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and do not disrupt commercial and humanitarian flows both through the port and onwards across the country. As of August 2018, the UN assess Sa’ada district as having high access constraints.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to work closely with our UN and NGO delivery partners, in Sa’ada and northern Yemen, who are operating under difficult circumstances to reach the most vulnerable. Even before the Saudi-led Coalition recently announced the temporary closure of all sea, land and air routes into Yemen, the country was the world’s largest humanitarian crisis with 21 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. The Coalition has since announced the reopening of ports and airports in areas controlled by the Government of Yemen, but these remain closed in areas not under government control - where 71% of Yemenis in severe humanitarian need live.</p><p>While the UK remains committed to supporting Saudi Arabia to address its legitimate security needs, it is absolutely vital that Yemen is kept open to humanitarian access and commercial supplies and personnel, upon which the Yemeni population depend. We are raising the importance of these points at the highest levels.</p><p>The UK continues to play a leading role in lobbying all sides to find a peaceful solution. As the pen-holder on Yemen at the UN Security Council the UK proposed and coordinated a UN Security Council Presidential Statement in June calling for an end to the conflict and the resumption of peace talks. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/11/2017 answer text <p>The UK condemns the attempted missile strike on Riyadh on 4 November and recognises the need for Saudi Arabia to take measures to stem the flow of weapons into Yemen. At the same time it is vital that Yemen remains open to commercial and humanitarian imports: the UN has warned that we could face the worst famine seen for decades unless the current Saudi-led Coalition restrictions are lifted. The UK has publicly called for the immediate reopening of Hodeidah port and the resumption of United Nations flights into the country. The Foreign Secretary raised the urgency of the humanitarian situation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia on 23 November.</p><p>We welcome the Saudi-led Coalition statement on 22 November announcing plans to open Hodeidah port to humanitarian aid and Sana’a airport to UN flights as an initial step. It is important that all sides to the conflict conduct investigations into incidents of concern. To that end, we welcome the announcement by the UN Secretary General on 6 June that the United Nations and the Saudi-led Coalition will review jointly the cases and numbers cited in the text. We have so far helped more than 1.3 million Yemenis with medical supplies, food, water, and emergency shelter.</p><p>The repair and rebuilding of infrastructure in Yemen will be a key part of any comprehensive recovery and reconstruction plan. We are already working with the Government of Yemen and the international community to promote thinking and planning for Yemen’s recovery. In the meantime, we are helping to meet emergency health care needs for the most vulnerable. Working through UNICEF, we provide health and nutrition services through hospitals and mobile clinics.
