Total mental health spending will rise from £8.5 billion in 2013-14 to £8.62 billion in 2014-15.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government has committed an additional £40 million funding boost for mental health services in 2014-15. A further £80 million in 2015-16 will be freed by NHS England from existing budgets.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department and NHS England continue to work together to ensure that there are consistent messages to commissioners and providers about the importance of delivering parity of esteem for people with mental health needs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Monitor and NHS England are responsible for setting the national tariff arrangements and are working together to develop a national payment system for mental health which promotes early intervention, access to effective evidence-based care, improved outcomes and recovery.</p><p> </p><p>The national tariff arrangements for 2015-16 will include examples of new and innovative payment models which local commissioners and providers may choose to adopt next year.</p><p> </p> answering member printed Earl Howe question first answered 29/10/2014 12:24:43 answering member 2000 label Biography information for Earl Howe

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/11/2014 answer text <p>Public Health England (PHE) is leading on arrangements for enhanced screening for Ebola which is being rolled out at Heathrow, Gatwick and St Pancras (Eurostar), and Birmingham and Manchester airports thereafter. This screening will be for passengers that Border Force officers identify as having travelled from Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia or for those passengers who identify themselves to staff.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Screening is being implemented by PHE staff, who follow official protocols. PHE has issued guidance to its staff and for professionals across other sectors, about how to deal with a suspected case of Ebola. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/10/2014 answer text <p>National Health Service funding has risen in each year of this parliament and is £12.7 billion higher in cash terms in 2014-15 than in 2010-11. The NHS is on track to make up to £20 billion efficiency savings this parliament to reinvest into frontline care. We are confident that it will continue to make the efficiency improvements necessary to meet rising demand and protect the quality of the services delivered.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In a recent report commissioned by the Department, Frontier Economics has estimated that poor care could be costing the NHS up to £2.5 billion every year. In order to focus attention on the harms contributing to these costs and the savings that could be reinvested, a poster and leaflet will go out to all NHS hospitals to display this vital information to their staff.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We have introduced a wide range of measures, including the Sign Up to Safety Campaign, Patient Safety Collaboratives, a new tougher inspection regime for providers and a reformed National Patient Safety Alert System to reduce mistakes in practice. In order to promote a culture of openness and transparency, that will enable organisations to learn from their mistakes, there will be the duty of candour in the event of serious harm.
