Total mental health spending will rise from £8.5 billion in 2013-14 to £8.62 billion in 2014-15.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government has committed an additional £40 million funding boost for mental health services in 2014-15. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/11/2014 answer text <p>Public Health England (PHE) is leading on arrangements for enhanced screening for Ebola which is being rolled out at Heathrow, Gatwick and St Pancras (Eurostar), and Birmingham and Manchester airports thereafter. This screening will be for passengers that Border Force officers identify as having travelled from Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia or for those passengers who identify themselves to staff.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Screening is being implemented by PHE staff, who follow official protocols. PHE has issued guidance to its staff and for professionals across other sectors, about how to deal with a suspected case of Ebola. The NHS is on track to make up to £20 billion efficiency savings this parliament to reinvest into frontline care. We are confident that it will continue to make the efficiency improvements necessary to meet rising demand and protect the quality of the services delivered.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In a recent report commissioned by the Department, Frontier Economics has estimated that poor care could be costing the NHS up to £2.5 billion every year. In order to focus attention on the harms contributing to these costs and the savings that could be reinvested, a poster and leaflet will go out to all NHS hospitals to display this vital information to their staff.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We have introduced a wide range of measures, including the Sign Up to Safety Campaign, Patient Safety Collaboratives, a new tougher inspection regime for providers and a reformed National Patient Safety Alert System to reduce mistakes in practice. In order to promote a culture of openness and transparency, that will enable organisations to learn from their mistakes, there will be the duty of candour in the event of serious harm. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/10/2014 answer text <p>National data is not available on the percentage of patients accessing talking therapies who are offered a choice of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) approved psychological therapies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>NICE has recommended a range of psychological therapeutic interventions in its clinical guidelines, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal therapy, brief dynamic interpersonal therapy, couple therapy for depression and counselling for depression.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Not all psychological therapeutic interventions therapies are appropriate for all patients. The decision on the most appropriate therapy for each patient should be made between a patient and their clinician.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In 2012, the Department agreed significant additional investment of £22 million in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) over three years up to 2015. On 25 March 2014 the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) published its annual census on the General and Personal Medical Services workforce, which collects information from general practices in England and reflects the position as at 30 September 2013. The census shows that 2,763 general practitioners (GP) (excluding registrars and retainers) joined the profession between 2012 and 2013. However, the census does not show how many of these joiners were newly qualified GPs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The census also shows that there were 36,294 full time equivalent GPs working in the NHS in England.
