Data on the reported number of people diagnosed with secondary breast cancers in 2014-2017 in England are available in the following table. The National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service is working closely with cancer charities to improve data collection and submission by hospital trusts, looking at how they can help improve completion rates and thus gain a better picture of the burden of recurrence and metastatic disease across the health service.</p><p>Data for secondary breast cancer diagnoses are not available at constituency level. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/12/2020 answer text <p>The Department, along with stakeholders, is currently reviewing the proposal of a secondary breast cancer audit.</p><p>The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership commissions, develops and manages the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme on behalf of NHS England and the devolved administrations. The programme currently consists of over 30 national clinical audits, six clinical outcome review programmes and the National Joint Registry.</p><p>The existing audit of breast cancer in older women does include some sections on women with metastatic breast cancer. Health Education England is also working to expand the number of CNS and develop clear CNS competencies and routes into training.</p><p>The National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS) has mandated collection of breast cancer recurrence data in its Cancer Services and Outcomes Dataset (COSD) since 2013. Hospital trusts are also required to submit recurrence data in the Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) dataset. Data published on the NCRAS legacy website shows that of the 140 trusts that could be expected to be collecting data on breast cancer recurrence in 2016, 140 submitted data for 2016 diagnoses through the COSD or CWT data collection mechanisms. The new NHS Long Term Plan commitment is that all patients, including those with secondary cancers, will have access to the right expertise and support, including a CNS or other support worker by 2021.
