answer text <p>​We remain deeply concerned about restrictions on freedom of religion or belief in China, particularly in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. We raised our concerns with the Chinese authorities at the UK/China Human Rights Dialogue which took place on 27 June 2017.</p><p>I receive a large amount of Parliamentary questions and correspondence on human rights in China, including on this issue. The FCO maintains an extensive network of contacts across China and the UK, and regularly meets with stakeholders to hear their views and concerns. This includes the China Human Rights NGO roundtable held on 28 September, where this particular issue, amongst others was discussed.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK has not directly funded any structures in recent years that have been demolished by the Israeli Government.</p><p>According to the EU, 155 Palestinian structures, including 67 in Area C, were demolished or seized in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) over the period 1 March to 31 August 2017.</p><p>39 structures funded by the EU or its member states were demolished or seized throughout the West Bank in the same period. A further 34 EU funded structures were demolished in January and February. We have no numbers for how many UN funded structures have been demolished or seized in the same period of time.</p> more like this

answer text <p>​As part of our efforts to bring Daesh to justice, we are working closely with international partners, including the UN, to support the collection and preservation of evidence of Daesh crimes. On 21 September 2017, the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to adopt UK-drafted Resolution 2379, which requests the UN Secretary General to establish an Investigative Team to collect, preserve and store evidence of Daesh crimes. The team will be led by a Special Adviser with a mandate to promote efforts to bring Daesh to justice across the globe. The UK has pledged £1 million to support this team. We have also provided over £8 million since 2012 in support of NGOs gathering evidence and assisting victims in Syria.</p> more like this

The Minister for the Middle East and North Africa visited the Old City of Hebron in August and witnessed the restrictions faced by Palestinian families and the impact on their lives. Through our Embassy in Tel Aviv we have lobbied the appropriate authorities on the issue of movement and access.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary represented the UK at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 16 October, securing agreement to the suspension of all Burmese military visits to the EU and a review of all defence cooperation, and to consider additional measures if the situation in Rakhine does not improve. This followed the Government's own announcement on 19 September that the UK would suspend practical defence co-operation with the Burmese military and visits by senior military officers to the UK.</p><p>The Foreign Secretary routinely attends EU Foreign Affairs Council meetings. He is committed to maintaining international attention and ensuring action on the situation of the Rohingya, and so would make representations at future meetings where the situation of the Rohingya is being discussed.</p> more like this

answer text <p>​The Government is concerned about reports that the Syrian regime has cut off water and electricity to Homs Central prison and is poised to attack it. We have raised these concerns in the International Syria Support Group Ceasefire Task Force meeting in Geneva and have asked both the UN Special Envoy's office and the International Red Cross to use their good offices to ensure the safety of the prisoners.</p><p>The Syria resolution passed by the UN Human Rights Council in September 2017, on which the UK led, called for the appropriate international monitoring bodies to be granted access to all detainees, for all parties to the conflict to cease the mistreatment and torture of detainees and demanded the immediate release of all persons arbitrarily detained.</p> more like this
