answer text
As part of our efforts to bring Daesh to justice, we are working closely with international partners, including the UN, to support the collection and preservation of evidence of Daesh crimes. On 21 September 2017, the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to adopt UK-drafted Resolution 2379, which requests the UN Secretary General to establish an Investigative Team to collect, preserve and store evidence of Daesh crimes. The team will be led by a Special Adviser with a mandate to promote efforts to bring Daesh to justice across the globe. The UK has pledged £1 million to support this team. We have also provided over £8 million since 2012 in support of NGOs gathering evidence and assisting victims in Syria.
more like this

We have raised these concerns in the International Syria Support Group Ceasefire Task Force meeting in Geneva and have asked both the UN Special Envoy's office and the International Red Cross to use their good offices to ensure the safety of the prisoners.

The Syria resolution passed by the UN Human Rights Council in September 2017, on which the UK led, called for the appropriate international monitoring bodies to be granted access to all detainees, for all parties to the conflict to cease the mistreatment and torture of detainees and demanded the immediate release of all persons arbitrarily detained.
more like this

answer text
Peace talks are the top priority. There is no military solution to the conflict and only a political solution can bring long-term stability to Yemen. The Yemeni parties must engage constructively and in good faith. The UK has played a leading role in diplomatic efforts, including bringing together key actors to seek a peaceful solution. As part of this, I hosted a Ministerial-level meeting with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, US and UN Special Envoy at the UN General Assembly in September.

The UK also proposed the Presidential Statement passed at the UN Security Council in June this year, which called for an end to the fighting and a return to UN-led peace talks. We are now working with our international and regional partners to ensure that the Security Council's words are converted into action as a matter of urgency. We call on all parties to respect these unified and clear demands from the international community.
more like this
