answer text
The Foreign Secretary has strongly condemned repeated Security Council vetoes by Russia - on 24 October, 16 and 17 November - which have blocked the renewal of the mandate for the UN Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (UN-OPCW) Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM). In a written statement to Parliament on 30 November, the Foreign Secretary condemned Russia's "overriding determination to protect their allies in the Syrian regime, whatever the crimes committed." The UK remains determined to continue to seek accountability for the use of chemical weapons in Syria and continues to raise the issue with Russia bilaterally.
more like this

answer text
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises British Nationals to avoid all but essential travel to North Korea. As a result, very few British people visit North Korea and those that do are usually part of an organised tour. Whilst we encourage British nationals living or visiting North Korea to inform the British Embassy of their travel plans, not all will do so. Accordingly accurate numbers are not available for any given year.
more like this

The Prime Minister spoke to President Trump in advance of his announcement, and had conversations with European partners at the European Council on 19 October. The Foreign Secretary spoke to Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif and US Deputy Secretary of State Sullivan on 13 October, and discussed the issue with EU partners at the Foreign Affairs Council on 17 October.
more like this

Cases from St Helena go direct to Cape Town and those on the Falkland Islands usually go to a country in the region.

More routine medical treatment remains possible on all the islands. For medical appointments off island those on Ascension have been able to use the Ministry of Defence tactical flights to the UK, those on St Helena travel via the Royal Mail Ship to Cape Town, and those on the Falklands continue to use the South Atlantic Airbridge.
more like this

The amount each participating State pays to the organisation is calculated based on a scale of assessment. Efforts to amend that scale are ongoing. The UK argues strongly in these discussions that a new scale should be based on the capacity to pay, applying the UN methodology based on Gross National Income (GNI). Adoption of this new scale would result in increased contributions from a number of countries including Russia.
more like this
