The Turkish government regard PYD as an affiliate of the proscribed terrorist organisation, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/11/2014 answer text <p>We maintain a regular dialogue at all levels with the Turkish government on the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right Hon Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond), discussed cooperation against ISIL with the Turkish Foreign Minister when they spoke on 9 October 2014. Since then, the Turkish President has made clear Turkey’s commitment to support international efforts to tackle the threat posed by ISIL. <br><br>Turkey is already making a valuable contribution to the international campaign against ISIL through use of its airspace and its airbases for reconnaissance and humanitarian support. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right Hon Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond), discussed the situation in Kobane and the PKK with the Turkish Foreign Minister when they spoke on 9 October. <br><br>We value greatly Turkey’s generosity in hosting over 190,000 refugees that have fled the fighting in Kobane, in addition to the 1.6 million refugees from Syria and Iraq already residing in Turkey. The Department for International Development has already responded to the urgent needs of Syrian Kurdish refugees that have fled to Turkey, and remains ready to react swiftly to further developments. <br><br>We also welcome continued efforts by the Turkish government to take forward the Kurdish peace process, including through the introduction of legislation addressing minority rights and consultation with civil society. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/11/2014 answer text <p>I met the Russian Ambassador on 11 September and called on Russia to take immediate steps to end the violence, particularly to stop its supply of armour, weapons and personnel across the border and to withdraw all personnel and military equipment it has already delivered.</p><p>At the G20 Summit in Brisbane, the Prime Minister, my right hon. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron), joined other international leaders in calling on Russia to respect the Minsk agreements, including the requirement to withdraw illegal armed groups, military equipment and militants and mercenaries from Ukraine. The Prime Minister also made clear that if Russia did not, we remained ready to intensify sanctions.</p><p>At the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 17 November the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/04/2014 answer text <p>During my second visit to Burma in January, I personally pressed the Burmese government and members of the Burmese military, including the Burmese Commander in Chief, to address our human rights concerns. I was also fortunate to visit Kachin State in January – the first British Minister to do so since Burma gained independence. I made clear to the government and the military that conflict should end and that there should be unhindered humanitarian access to the areas affected. I also raised our concerns about very serious allegations of sexual violence in conflict and the forced conscription of child soldiers.</p><p>Whilst I did not discuss the issue of soldiers refusing orders which could result in human rights abuses, a discussion of the nature of illegal orders featured during the Managing Defence in a Wider Security Context course, delivered by the UK Defence Academy in Burma in January. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/04/2014 answer text <p>On hearing of the expulsion of Médicins San Frontières (MSF) on 26 February, the British Embassy registered our concerns with the Burmese government that same evening. Since then we have been liaising very closely with MSF tailoring our lobbying to their support, as they negotiate with the Burmese authorities. The British Ambassador visited the MSF clinic in Sittwe during his visit to Rakhine State from 19-20 March to hear first-hand the impact this decision has had on the local community.</p><p>I summoned the Burmese Ambassador to London on 7 April to make clear our grave concerns about the situation in Rakhine State, including the expulsion of Médicins San Frontières. I called on the Burmese government to urgently restore humanitarian access to all communities in need and to ensure the security of humanitarian aid workers and all communities in Rakhine State so that they can operate free of constraint and intimidation.
