answer text
Under the United Nations Charter, the UN General Assembly passes resolutions that make recommendations to Member States. These resolutions are not legally binding. While resolutions express the view of the General Assembly as a whole, those Member States which vote against or abstain on individual resolutions are not legally committed to implement their respective contents. Of the 313 resolutions adopted during the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly (2017-18), 234 were adopted by consensus (i.e. without a vote). Of the remaining 79 which were adopted by vote, the UK voted in favour of 44, against 25 and abstained on 10 occasions.
more like this

answer text
Video clips were produced in-house by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's (FCO) digital communication team in London. They were published on corporate FCO social media channels and made available to the FCO's global network of Posts overseas for publication on local social media channels. To maximise the lifetime value of content, footage collected is archived and re-used. With the repeated reuse of archive, it is difficult to provide a precise figure for the costs of footage used in a specific video.
more like this

answer text
As a cornerstone of the international rules-based system, the UN is a universally recognised platform for countries to reach agreement on the global issues that affect us all. The opening session of the UN General Assembly brings together political leaders from across the world in a way that sets the multilateral agenda for the year ahead. Since the opening of the General Assembly’s 69th session in September 2014, notable achievements in support of UK policy aims include: a new set of global development goals to help eradicate extreme poverty within the next 15 years; support for the Secretary General to develop a comprehensive Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism; a General Assembly resolution on the Arms Trade Treaty which maintained momentum towards the Treaty’s entry into force in 2014; strong human rights resolutions on Syria and the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Korea; and $220m (£145m) in savings on peacekeeping mission costs.
more like this
