answer text <p>Before the police funding settlement, I spoke and received written submissions from leaders in police forces in England and Wales. Police leaders - especially in England where referendum limits apply - were clear that they wanted additional flexibility to increase funding through precept. I heard their messages and responded by allowing increases of an average £1 per month in England, enabling each PCC to maintain their funding in real terms next year.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We have recovered £1.4bn under the Proceeds of Crime Act since 2010. The Criminal Finances Act 2017 provides important new powers to improve the asset recovery system, such as unexplained wealth orders, the forfeiture of bank accounts and forfeiture of certain mobile assets. The Government is also implementing the recommendations made in the Public Accounts Committee Report of 2016. Our Asset Recovery Action Plan will be published by April this year.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The points of learning made by Bishop James Jones in his report span a number of government departments and organisations who are considering their respective responses. The Home Office is coordinating those responses and the Government will therefore provide a full response in due course. In doing so we must be mindful that nothing is done which might prejudice the ongoing criminal proceedings.</p><p>With those proceedings underway, it is important that the Hillsborough families continue receiving support and arrangements are in place to allow this to be maintained.</p><p>The Crown Prosecution Service will keep the families informed regarding developments with trials and court hearings. Hillsborough families will also be entitled to support offered by the Government-funded court-based Witness Service, which provides emotional and practical support, advice and information, regardless of whether or not they are witnesses.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Treaty between the UK and France signed at Sandhurst in January demonstrates our joint long term commitment to the operation of juxtaposed controls, and to taking a joint approach to tackling the challenges created by illegal migration.</p><p>As part of this new Treaty the UK and France agreed a new ‘whole of route’ joint package of cooperation on migration. This includes measures on further strengthening our shared border, combating organised immigration crime and working together to reduce the number of illegal migrants at the northern French ports. The government set out more detail on the Sandhurst Treaty and our work with France in this area in the Written Ministerial Statement of 19 January 2018.</p><p>Under the agreement, joint governance structures will ensure that we are maximising the wider benefit to be gained from the UK and France working together across the migration agenda.</p> more like this
