answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/12/2018 answer text <p>Asylum seekers are not allowed to work in the UK unless their claim has been outstanding for at least 12 months through no fault of their own. <br>The data requested on the number of asylum seekers granted permission to work in 2018 is only held on paper case files or within the notes sections of the Home Office's databases. Member for Stretford and Urmston on the 7 December 2018, UIN 197400.</p><p>The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Ministry of Justice, and the Home Office carried out a joint consultation on the effectiveness of powers for dealing with unauthorised development and encampments.</p><p>All government departments have an ongoing responsibility to meet the Public Sector Equalities Duty (PSED) under the Equality Act 2010. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/01/2019 answer text <p>The Government has committed to setting up a compensation scheme that will redress what went wrong and to assist those affected in the Windrush generation as quickly and carefully as possible.</p><p>The policy on support in urgent and exceptional circumstances applies where a specific support requirement is identified which requires immediate funding ahead of the Windrush Compensation Scheme being established. The policy statement published on 17 December includes among the factors for consideration that the cost should normally be less than £5,000.</p><p>This sum is arrived at following a small number of cases in which this kind of exceptional support has been provided by the Windrush Taskforce to date.
