answer text <p>The Government is fully committed to encouraging homeowners to incorporate energy efficiency measures in their properties in order to tackle climate change. Historic England, the Government’s adviser on heritage matters, publishes a range of advice on installing energy efficiency measures in historic buildings.</p><p>The Government has also recently undertaken a review of the practical planning barriers that households can face when installing energy efficiency measures such as improved glazing, including in conservation areas and listed buildings. An announcement on the outcome of the review will be made in due course.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK’s approach to China is to protect our institutions and infrastructure, align with partners and engage where it is in the UK’s national interest.</p><p> </p><p>The opportunities of Artificial Intelligence are transformational, but the pace of development necessitates an urgent international conversation about significant risks. The AI Safety Summit will focus on international collaboration to identify and mitigate safety risks from frontier AI – including misuse leading to biological or cyber-attacks.</p><p> </p><p>We cannot keep the UK public safe from the risks of AI if we exclude one of the leading nations in AI tech. We have therefore determined that it is in our national interest to invite China to the Summit where we will encourage a global approach to addressing safety risks in frontier AI which are inherently international in nature.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) undertakes an annual review of assets frozen as a result of UK financial sanctions, requiring all persons or institutions that hold or control frozen assets in the UK to report to OFSI.</p><p> </p><p>Details of assets reported to OFSI as part of the 2021 frozen asset review were published in OFSI’s 2021-2022 Annual Review. As of September 2021, £12.4 billion of frozen funds across all regimes were reported to be held by UK institutions. The value of assets held in relation to the Myanmar regime is aggregated under ‘Others’ so as not to disclose the value of funds held by particular individuals.</p><p> </p><p>Details of assets reported to OFSI in 2022 will be published in OFSI’s 2022-2023 Annual Review, in Autumn 2023.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government publishes Official Statistics (on a quarterly and annual basis) on export licences granted, refused and revoked to all destinations: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/strategic-export-controls-licensing-data" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/guidance/strategic-export-controls-licensing-data</a>. These reports contain detailed information on export licences, including the destination, overall value, the type (e.g. Military, Other), and a summary of the items covered by these licences.</p><p>Currently this includes information up to 31 December 2022. Information covering 1 January 2023 to 31 March 2023 will be published in July 2023 and information covering 1 April to 30 June 2023 will be published in October 2023.</p><p>The Government assesses all export licence applications to all destinations against the <a href="https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statements/detail/2021-12-08/hcws449" target="_blank">Strategic Export Licensing Criteria</a>. We will not license the export of equipment where to do so would be inconsistent with these Criteria.</p>

answer text <p>The UK's malaria science sector has made significant contributions to the development of antimalarial drugs, vaccines and diagnostic tools. We continue to support the sector through our research and development investments. This includes support to the Liverpool-based Innovative Vector Control Consortium to develop novel bed-nets and to Oxford university to develop a new generation of antimalarial medicines to tackle the threat posed by emerging drug resistance. In collaboration with UK Research and Innovation we have also funded a study led by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to evaluate the role of malaria vaccines when deployed in combination with seasonal administration of antimalarials.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary sent a congratulatory message to the new Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in December 2022. Our High Commissioner and his team in Suva have ongoing discussions with the Government of Fiji spanning our cooperation on tackling climate change, supporting trade between the UK and Fiji, renewable energy and supporting the 1500 Fijian soldiers serving in the British Armed Forces. We welcome Fiji's support in the UN General Assembly on our shared interests including speaking out against Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. As a fellow maritime island nation, we work closely with Fiji to tackle Illegal, Unregulated and Unauthorised Fishing in the Pacific, and Royal Navy Offshore Patrol Vessel HMS SPEY conducted joint exercising and cooperation with their Fiji Navy counterparts twice last year<strong>.</strong></p> more like this
