answer text <p>The government has recently consulted on potential future measures to mitigate carbon leakage risks, including the potential for a UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The consultation closed on 22 June 2023, and the government will respond to the consultation in due course.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In May 2023, the EU formally adopted their EU CBAM Regulation, which will start with a transitional (reporting) phase from 1 October 2023. The EU CBAM charge will not come in until 1 January 2026.</p><p> </p><p>Full details of the EU CBAM will be known when the EU adopt the required implementing and delegated acts. UK officials are continuing to closely monitor this process and are waiting to see these before building a full understanding of potential impacts on UK businesses and any interactions with domestic policy</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Under the OECD's DAC code 13040 the UK spent:</p><p>In 2018</p><p>i) £11.1 million of bilateral Official Development Assistance (ODA), including £10.1 million from FCDO.</p><p>ii) £137.8 million of imputed UK share of core multilateral ODA.</p><p>In 2019</p><p>i) £8.6 million of bilateral ODA, including £8.3 million from FCDO.</p><p>ii) £119.5 million of imputed UK share of core multilateral ODA.</p><p>In 2020</p><p>i) £9.5 million of bilateral ODA, including £8.4 million from FCDO.</p><p>ii) £249.9 million of imputed UK share of core multilateral ODA.</p><p>In 2021</p><p>i) £5.8 million of bilateral ODA, including £4.5 million from FCDO.</p><p>ii) Imputed UK share of core multilateral ODA is not yet available for this year.</p><p>UK ODA is published in line with the OECD DAC purpose code standards, 13040 is defined as &quot;STD control including HIV/AIDS&quot; and no further spend disaggregation is available. answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary welcomed the November 2022 peace agreement between the Ethiopian Government and the Tigray People's Liberation Front, when he visited Ethiopia in December. We further welcomed the commitment in the peace agreement to create a comprehensive national transitional justice policy which we hope will be shared with the international community later this year. In parallel, we are providing £4.5 million to help build the capacity of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission through the UK's Human Rights and Peacebuilding programme, including to enhance its investigative capacity and improve the availability and accessibility of services for survivors of gender-based violence.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Local authorities provide information on looked after children through the SSDA903 annual return, but this does not include information on the family circumstances of looked after children.</p><p>The department recognises the need to collect the right data about children’s social care services to help achieve better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. That is why in ‘Stable Homes, Built on Love’, the department committed to developing a children’s social care dashboard to support the new National Framework and a data strategy for children’s social care. Through these initiatives, the department will look at how data gaps could be addressed.</p><p>The consultation on the children’s social care dashboard concluded on 11 May 2023 and the department is currently analysing the results. The department will set out the consultation findings and more information about the children’s social care data strategy later in the year.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Ending gender-based violence (GBV) is a priority for the UK and is a core pillar of the FCDO's International Women and Girls Strategy. We are investing up to £67.5 million in the <em>What Works to Prevent Violence: Impact at Scale </em>programme, the first global programme scaling up proven approaches to prevent GBV. Through the programme we will work with girls and boys, for example in schools, to shift attitudes and behaviours and promote healthy relationships. We are also working with girls and boys through the <em>UN Global Programme to End Child Marriage</em>, which engages adolescents across 12 countries in meaningful community dialogues on gender equality and the rights of adolescent girls.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The FCDO is committed to addressing barriers to education. Through the UK-led Girls' Education Challenge (GEC), over 64,000 girls excluded from school due to becoming mothers are now in education. In 2022, the GEC conducted research with pregnant girls and adolescent mothers and then published the findings, setting out how to support them to thrive in school. This includes listening to the girls, reducing financial barriers to education, strengthening systems to support these girls to complete their education and ensuring policies actively encourage their participation. In this way we can ensure these girls can continue to receive a quality education.</p> more like this
