answer text <p>The criteria for the issue, withdrawal or refusal of a British passport are set out under the Royal Prerogative, which is put before Parliament from time to time (<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/the-issuing-withdrawal-or-refusal-of-passports" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/the-issuing-withdrawal-or-refusal-of-passports</a>).
