answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/04/2019 answer text <p>Protecting UK businesses from cyber attacks is a key priority within the Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021.</p><p> </p><p>The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) works with a wide range of partners to provide advice and support to businesses and organisations across the UK, enabling them to put measures in place to protect against cyber attacks. Up to date guidance - such as the Small Business Guide for SMEs - is freely available on NCSC’s website and is underpinned by NCSC’s insights into cyber threats. The NCSC has also published its Board Toolkit to help company boards better understand cyber security.</p><p> </p><p>Government continues to engage with businesses of all types and through multiple channels to raise awareness of cyber security best practice. According to Thinkbroadband, 99.7% of premises in Mansfield currently have access to superfast broadband.</p><p> </p><p>The government has invested heavily in Nottinghamshire, with over £7.8 million of central government funding allocated. Mobile coverage has significantly improved over recent years, with 91% of the UK landmass having 4G coverage by at least one operator, up from 78% in 2017. Despite this progress, there remain areas where mobile connectivity must be improved. The Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) made our data protection laws fit for the digital age and empowered people to take control of their data.</p><p> </p><p>The DPA and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduced a duty on all organisations including social media companies to notify certain types of personal data breaches to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).</p><p> </p><p>Under the GDPR, a company may designate one national regulator in the European Union as its “lead supervisory authority”, so that it does not have to deal with 28 separate regulators. In the case of Facebook, the Irish Data Protection authority takes that role and is therefore leading on this breach.</p><p> </p><p>The ICO is working with its Irish counterpart to ensure that it fulfils its role to protect UK citizens data.
