answer text
Mahsa Amini's death is a shocking reminder of the repression faced by women in Iran. On 14 November the UK sanctioned 24 leading political and security officials in Iran for their role in the brutal crackdown on protests, which included unacceptable violations of the rights of women and girls. This followed our earlier sanctions against the Morality Police and other leading security figures. The UK continues to urge Iran to improve its human rights record, including on women and girls, at all appropriate opportunities. The UK is also working with international partners to ensure Iran is held to account. On 24 November, the UK voted in support of the UN Human Rights Council's resolution to establish an investigation into human rights violations by the regime during the protests. We are also working with partners to ensure Iran is removed from the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
more like this

The UK fully support the United States' proposal to seek Iran's removal from the CSW, and will do what we can, together with our partners, in support of this. On 24 November, the UK supported a successful Human Rights Council resolution to establish a UN investigation into the regime's appalling human rights violations during the protests.
more like this

A LARMO representative met with officials from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on 26 October to discuss potential options for the future of any recovered assets, with reference to the ongoing assets freeze. FCDO officials reminded LARMO that UN Security Council Resolution 1970 (2011) makes clear that the aim of the Libya asset freeze is to ensure that the frozen funds are preserved until such a time as they can be made available to, and for the benefit of, the people of Libya. Any amendments to the asset freeze will require consensus at the UN Security Council and will be judged against this goal.
more like this

answer text
The Yazidi community has suffered immense pain and loss as a result of the abhorrent crimes inflicted by Daesh. The UK advocated strongly for the passing of the Yazidi Survivors' Law in March 2021 and the establishment of the Directorate of Yazidi Affairs. The Directorate is responsible for searching for survivors and supporting judicial and investigative bodies on holding perpetrators to account. In parallel, we have also provided £2 million to the UN Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Daesh (UNITAD). The UK joined likeminded partners in committing to support Yazidis displaced or abducted by Daesh in a Joint alliance statement issued in October 2021. We will continue to press the newly formed government on the importance of these issues, including searching for those missing Yazidi women and children abducted by Daesh.
more like this

A due diligence assessment for a grant recipient determines whether an Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) partner has the capacity and capability to manage programme funds and deliver the programme or project objectives specific to the context. Our records indicate that the legacy departments of the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office conducted due diligence assessments on Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) and Caritas Internationalis; however, our records indicate that there has been no assessment since the departments merged to form the FCDO.
more like this
