answer text
The British Government recognises the contribution non-governmental organisations (NGOs) make towards search and rescue in the Mediterranean. We do not provide direct support to these organisations. The UK has a strong record on Mediterranean Search and Rescue: between May 2015 and July 2018, UK naval assets rescued over 31,000 people through our contributions to EU operations SOPHIA and Frontex. The British Government's understanding is that the M.V. Aquarius, following the withdrawal of its flagged status by the Gibraltar Maritime Authority on safety grounds, was subsequently registered under the Panama flag. However, the Panamanian Maritime Authority revoked its registration in September. It is not for the British Government to intervene in Panama's decision. The UK has not received a request from the owners of the Aquarius or its most recent operators, the NGOs SOS Méditerranée and Médicins Sans Frontières, for re-registration under a British flag. Should we receive such a request, the application would be considered according to the usual procedures.

answer text
The UK supports freedom of religious belief for all Yemenis. On 28 September the UK voted for a resolution at the UN Human Rights Council that emphasised the international community’s concern at the plight of the Baha’i and called for the immediate release of all Baha’i detained due to their religious belief. The persecution of members of the Baha’i community in areas of Yemen under Houthi control due to their religious beliefs is a serious violation of international human rights law. New cases of arbitrary detention and continuing reports of the abuse of detainees by the Houthis are deeply concerning, and we wholly condemn this mistreatment. We have raised our concerns with the Houthi authorities.
more like this

Additionally the UK has also allocated £1.1 million to support essential infrastructure for vulnerable Palestinians in Area C. UK-funded partners including UN OCHA and other UN agencies have been working to deliver assistance to those displaced from Afrin, and those in need in Afrin, where access allows. This includes food, water, sanitation support, resupplying damaged health facilities, and education on the risks of mines. We regularly discuss issues of concern with the Turkish government, including the protection of civilians and the need to facilitate access for life-saving humanitarian aid in accordance with international humanitarian law.
more like this

This includes the possibility of EU assistance in establishing a sea-link from Gaza to another international port, currently envisaged in Cyprus. The UK has consistently called on the Government of Israel to ease movement, including at sea, and will continue to do so. We encourage the Palestinian Authority to fully resume its government functions in Gaza, and ensure that the reconciliation process between Palestinian factions is compliant with the Quartet Principles.
more like this
