Under the UK's Developing Countries Trading Scheme, Pakistan benefits from duty free exports on the condition that it ratifies and effectively implements specified international conventions on human rights and environmental degradation. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/06/2023 answer text <p>In 2022 the UK increased import duties by an additional 35 percentage points on a variety of precious and semiprecious stones and metals from Russia and Belarus, including rough and polished diamonds and sanctioned the Russian state-owned company Alrosa. Our recent announcement goes further and we will legislate later this year for a complete ban on the import of Russian diamonds. These issues are an essential part of our dialogue with the Turkmen government and feature as a standing agenda item in our annual Structured Dialogue, the last of which took place in February 2023. Our regional climate ambassador visited Turkmenistan for discussions on climate change and emissions in October last year. I [Lord (Tariq) Ahmad of Wimbledon] regularly raise the death penalty with the Saudi authorities, most recently on 11 March and during my visit to Saudi Arabia in February.</p><p>The UK Government takes its strategic export control responsibilities very seriously. We will not grant export licences if to do so would be inconsistent with the Strategic Export Licensing Criteria, including respect for human rights and international humanitarian law. Ambassadors in the region and other senior UK officials have reinforced this message with key interlocutors including representatives of the Azerbaijani Government. The United Kingdom also called for the corridor to be re-opened in interventions at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe on 15 December and at the UN Security Council on 20 December.
