It is essential that both the Federal and State Governments in Nigeria address the drivers of conflict by working to develop solutions that meet the needs of all the communities affected. The UK and Nigeria have a security and defence partnership, signed during the Prime Minister's visit. We support the Nigerian authorities in improving security and in order to enable economic growth. We have been in contact with Chief of Staff Abba Kyari and Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama to express our concerns about the levels of violence and numbers of people killed. We welcome commitments by the Government of Nigeria to conduct a thorough investigation and to take appropriate action to hold accountable any member of the security forces held responsible for violations of Nigerian law. It is essential that security forces act in accordance with international law and work to protect civilians. As a priority, the Federal Government of Somalia must maintain momentum in developing and implementing a plan for transitioning security responsibility from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to Somali-led forces. They must also deliver widespread, sustainable reform of the security sector, in line with the commitments made at the 2017 London Somalia Conference. We welcome the recent release of the documentary The Profiteers, which will help to raise the international profile of this important issue. The British Government continues to work closely with regional partners, including Kenya and Uganda, international financial institutions, and other British Government departments to address the illicit financial flows fuelling the conflict in South Sudan, and to clamp down on corruption and money laundering. We continue to make clear to the Government of Sudan our expectation that all detainees are treated in accordance with international standards. Sudan remains a Human Rights Priority Country for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and we discussed freedom of religion or belief at the sixth round of the UK-Sudan Strategic Dialogue on 7 November. I visited Sudan in September, and the Minister for the Commonwealth and UN visited in October. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/11/2018 answer text <p>Cameroon is a highly ethnically diverse and bilingual country with over 250 ethnic groups and English and French as official languages. The violence in the Anglophone regions is not founded in ethnic roots, but generates from perceived marginalisation of the Anglophone minority. The UK is deeply concerned at the deteriorating violence, deaths and displacement of people which has increased since the end of 2016 with severe effect on civilians. We are working closely with the wider international community, including the UN, to build as full and accurate a picture as possible. As a permanent member, the UK reserves the right to call to the United Nations Security Council's attention any situation that threatens international peace and security. The UK is active in promoting human rights in Cameroon and uses other international fora to raise such issues. We are engaging with the Government of Cameroon, opposition leaders, community leaders, the military and civil society.
