The UK remains firm in our determination to support Nigeria, and its neighbours, in their fight against terrorism. We are providing a substantial package of UK military, intelligence and development support to help Nigeria tackle Boko Haram. This package includes counter-terrorism cooperation, providing training on the response to terrorist attacks and bomb scene management. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2015 answer text <p>The promotion and protection of the right to freedom of religion or belief is a priority for the Foreign &amp; Commonwealth Office (FCO).We regard freedom of thought, conscience or belief as a fundamental human right underpinning many other rights. Our officials in Kenya are working with civil society organisations, religious groups and the Kenyan government to promote tolerance and trust across communities. We are supporting a range of religious groups to work cooperatively to manage local tensions to ensure that the early warning signs of potential persecution are identified, and responded to, so as to mitigate the risk of violence. We are also supporting the Government of Kenya as part of its efforts to counter violent extremism, which fuels religious persecution. We have encouraged Kenya’s churches together with the National Council of Churches in Kenya, to continue to play a role in this work. Since his departure, the Minister for Africa and senior officials have followed events in the Sahel closely. The UK has also continued to show leadership in the Sahel through participation in international Missions such as the UN Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) and EU training missions in Mali and Niger. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is aware of reports of rebel incursions spilling over the border from CAR into Cameroon. Approximately 442,495 of CAR’s population have been internally displaced. Approximately 241,231 refugees have fled to Cameroon, 93,120 to Chad, 68,165 to the Democratic Republic of Congo and 21,554 to the Republic of Congo. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/09/2015 answer text Whilst we cannot interfere in the investigation or judicial processes in that country, we will also consider making appropriate representations to the local authorities if there are concerns that the investigation is not carried out in line with local procedures; if there are justified complaints about discrimination against the person who has died or their family; or where we judge that a local delay or decisions creates significant distress for the bereaved. Details of the support we offer to all British victims of crimes overseas are set out in our public statement: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/317474/FCO_Brits_Abroad_2014.pdf The investigation of crimes overseas are the responsibility of the country in which they occurred. We cannot interfere in investigations overseas and may be considered a third party by some countries and therefore not entitled to updates on the investigation or court process. We recommend that families engage a local lawyer who can make efforts to ensure that local standards are met and can seek updates from the local authorities and courts. We do though retain close interest in cases, and seek updates where we are able to. The Secretary of State for Foreign &amp; Commonwealth Affairs, my Rt Hon friend, the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Philip Hammond MP) and the Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service, my Rt Hon friend, the Member for Witney (David Cameron MP) have frequently raised the case directly and at the highest levels of the Ethiopian government, most recently on 8th and 17th August, and will continue to do so.
