answer text <p>The Additional Restrictions Grant is a discretionary scheme and is one of many business support schemes put in place during local and national Covid-19 restrictions. Local authorities have the flexibility to provide grants of any size to businesses and/or to fund wider business support.</p><p> </p><p>Whichever formula is used to calculate grant allocations will result in a range of results with some areas receiving more than others. The method used provides a fairly equal distribution overall.</p><p> </p><p>Both the City of London and the City of Westminster also receive a Local Restrictions Support grant for businesses that are required to close (£4.8 million and £21.8 million respectively), as well as discretionary grant funding related to the period that they were in Local Coronavirus Alert Level High (‘Tier 2’) (£907,000 and £3.8 million respectively).</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are confident that we can reach a deal and will continue to work hard to reach an agreement with the EU for as long as there is a constructive process ongoing. The Political Declaration sets out our ambition for a zero tariff and zero quota Free Trade Agreement; reducing the costs and processes associated with trade is in the interests of people and businesses across the UK and the EU.</p><p> </p><p>Extensive engagement has been taking place between the Government and the automotive sector on future trade negotiations. We shall continue to work with companies over the next few months to ensure that they are well prepared for the end of the transition period.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Government has a long-standing programme of support to maintain the competitiveness of the UK’s automotive sector.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Department has had no discussions since 2016 with the Ministry of Defence on the Government’s action to develop skills and capacities for nuclear submarines through exploring potential synergies with civil nuclear programmes.</p><p> </p><p>There is an industry-led Nuclear Skills Strategy Group, of which the Department, as well as the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Education, are members. answer text <p>The Government is providing various support measures to safeguard jobs in the aerospace sector from the impact of Covid-19, including the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme and the Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme. The British Business Bank has also created an online Finance Hub, which details sources of business finance that may be available, as well as useful guidance.</p><p>The aerospace sector and its aviation customers are being assisted with around £9 billion of funding made available through loans, research and development grants, loan guarantees, and support for exporters. The Government continues to support the long-term competitiveness of the UK’s aerospace supply chain through the Aerospace Growth Partnership.</p><p>The Government will continue to work closely with local authorities, businesses, and business representative organisations to understand the impact of Covid-19 on the aerospace sector.</p> more like this

answer text <p>With the implementation of national restrictions, the Additional Restrictions Grant has been allocated across England at £20 per head of residential population. Areas that went into the Local Covid Alert Level at ‘Very High’, prior to national restrictions, received aggregate sums at city region level. These sumsvary slightly from the Additional Restrictions Grant and where this was under the £20 per head rate, we have topped up the funding. For example, in Liverpool City Region, funding was increased from £30 million to £31.2 million.</p><p> </p><p>Local authority allocations are set out below. Where local authorities show as £0 it is because local authorities have agreed for their allocation to be paid to their Combined Authority. Combined Authority allocations are shown at the bottom of the table. These are to ensure that both the normal stringent health and safety requirements, and the COVID-19 social distancing measures, are being properly followed.</p><p> </p><p>The ONR’s Chief Inspector has assured the Department that he is satisfied that EDF’s measures at the site are robust and comprehensive, and that they are being implemented and enforced appropriately.</p> more like this
