to everyone in the top four priority cohorts, as recommended by the Joint Committee
on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), by 15 February. The Government and the National
Health Service are on course to meet the targets to offer a first dose of vaccination
to the top nine priority cohorts by mid-April and all adults by the end of July 2021.

On
26 February, the JCVI published its interim advice for phase two of the COVID-19 vaccination
programme covering adults aged 18-49 years old, setting out that the most effective
way to minimise hospitalisations and deaths is to continue to prioritise people by
age. The Government is planning to follow the recommended approach, subject to the
final advice given by the JCVI.
