answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/06/2021 answer text <p>The Department announced the Clean Steel Fund (CSF) in 2019 and developments are currently underway. This policy will take time to design in order to be delivered effectively.</p><p>Based on previous evidence, complex decarbonisation projects have long lead-in times and take time to set up. Due to this and other factors, the steel sector indicated in response to the 2019 Call for Evidence that their preference is for the CSF to be launched in 2023. Other schemes are available to support the sector and are live now, including the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund.</p><p>Decarbonising UK industry is a core part of the Government’s ambitious plan for the green industrial revolution. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/06/2021 answer text <p>BEIS Ministers and officials have regular discussions with their counterparts in the Department for International Trade on a range of issues of mutual interest, including on trade and steel.</p><p>The Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) will make a final recommendation before the UK steel safeguard measures are due to expire on 30 June 2021. My Rt. Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade may only reject a recommendation to impose a measure if she considers that it is not in the public interest or that the economic interest test has not been met. If this happens, the Secretary of State must lay down her reasons to Parliament.</p><p>She can accept or reject a TRA recommendation as a whole but not modify or partially accept it. Friend the Secretary of State has reformed and co-chairs the UK Steel Council, an important a forum to work together on transitioning to a competitive, sustainable and low carbon future. My noble Friend the Minister for Investment, Lord Grimstone, has also formed and co-chairs the Steel Procurement Taskforce to help the sector be well placed in competing for and securing public contracts.</p><p> </p><p>Our wide-ranging support also includes: providing over £500m in recent years to help with the costs of energy; a £315m Industrial Energy Transformation Fund, which aims to support businesses with high energy use to cut their bills and reduce carbon emission; and our £250m Clean Steel Fund that will support the decarbonisation of the steel sector. The company has set out the steps it has taken, consistent with the Government’s guidance, on worker safety; job protections utilising the Job Retention Scheme; developing and donating Personal Protective Equipment; and manufacturing ventilators.</p><p> </p><p>We have discussed with Rolls-Royce the various Government business support schemes available to the company and its suppliers. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/05/2020 answer text <p>Manufacturing is a critical part of our economy and the Government is engaging with industry to ensure that we can support our manufacturing sectors during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.</p><p> </p><p>Many businesses across the aerospace, chemical, automotive, steel, aluminium, pharmaceutical, packaging, and other sectors have answered the call to action. These businesses are playing a direct role in combatting COVID-19 by producing the materials and equipment necessary, as well as enabling the services that we need to fight the spread of the virus and keep the country running.</p><p> </p><p>We have put in place an unprecedented package of Government support to give manufacturers and their suppliers the support they need to ensure business continuity. These measures include:</p><p> </p><ul><li>£330 billion worth of Government-backed and guaranteed loans to support businesses across the UK.</li><li>The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) to help small and medium-sized businesses to access vital financial support.</li><li>The Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CLBILS) to allow more firms to benefit from Government-backed support at this difficult time.</li><li>The Bounce Back Loans scheme for small businesses, which complements the CBILS and CLBILS schemes.</li><li>Deferring VAT payments for firms to the next quarter, until the end of June, which represents a £30 billion injection into the economy.</li><li>Our Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, where small and large employers will be eligible to apply for a Government grant of 80% of workers’ salaries up to £2,500 a month. We also publish the proportion of honours by independent committee on GOV.UK. The numbers of honours recipients in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy are very small and vary from year to year.
