The final costing will be subject to scrutiny by the Office for Budget Responsibility and will be set out at the next fiscal event.<p> </p><p>In future years, if oil and gas prices return to historically more normal levels, the Government will phase out the Energy Profits Levy. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/07/2022 answer text <p>VAT has been designed as a broad-based tax on consumption, and the twenty per cent standard rate applies to the vast majority of goods and services, including the sale of new bicycles.</p><p> </p><p>According to OBR forecasts, VAT will have raised approximately £135 billion in 2021-22, helping to fund key spending priorities.
