<p>Over the period of 2022/23, the National Institute for Health and Care Research
(NIHR) has invested more than £3.9 million in funding and support for kidney disease
research. Research into kidney disease has included, but is not limited to, projects
exploring the multimorbidity of kidney disease and other conditions, predicting the
risk of kidney failure for patients with chronic kidney disease in the United Kingdom,
and assessing new diagnostic techniques.</p><p>The NIHR welcomes funding applications
for research into any aspect of human health, including kidney disease. Applications
are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, with awards being made
based on the importance of the topic to patients and health and care services, value
for money, and scientific quality.</p>
